Preparing Our Trip

The past few weeks we have been working hard to get the boat ready for the trip to Florida.  We currently are planning on leaving first part of October if all goes well.

John is driving the car to Florida on Monday 29th. to Palmetto where we plan on staying for a couple of months at Riviera Dunes Marina.  We found this marina while we were in search of our boat.  It is a really nice and well protected location.  He will fly back to Huntsville, AL on Tuesday the 3oth.

We will leave for Aqua Yacht Harbor either that Wednesday or Thursday. We have scheduled (I know you are thinking – what you have No Schedule) a meeting with the service department on a few things that we feel like we need to have looked at.  We also plan on spending a little time on Bay Spring Lake before our departure. Bay Spring Lake is beautiful and we have not had enough time on that lake and it will be a year before we are back this way.

We have planned to put in a house battery w/ inverter for the refrigerator (which we found out is only 110) and plugs to run a few items while under way and no generator on. Also a wash down outlet for the boat. Amazingly we do not have one on board.  We will add this one right inside the port side wing door which will make it easy to wash down the front and back of boat as needed. Also adding a backup camera – not necessarily for backing up but we would like to be able to see the dinghy and any boat traffic coming up from our back.

I am working on provisioning the boat for our trip while John works on repairs. I keep thinking that I have it all under control and I think of something else. We will be in remote areas and will not have access to groceries, boat parts, etc. So we have to be prepared for what comes our way. Keeping a list for the trips out to town so that we can get most of what we need before the trip.

John has been in the engine room a lot this afternoon building a platform for the big battery we are going to install. This morning his head was under the galley sink trying to fix the faucet so that it won’t leak.

Onward and forward or is it onward and upward.  Either way we are getting things done and counting down.

Running down river soon!!
