NM – 98 miles – Demopolis Marina to Bobby’s Fish Camp, Silas, AL
Total Miles: 373.6
LOCKS Today- 1
Total Locks – 11
First light we were suppose to be up, dogs walked, engines running and heading to Demopolis Lock & Dam. John on EuFLORia called the lockmaster was told the lock was closed because of fog. We had to wait another hour for the fog to lift some and the lock to open. We filed out one by one making our way to the lock. We were out and on our way by a little after 8:00 am. The river was quite foggy and we had to navigate tugs tied up to the banks, debris (logs and trash from the floods) and fog as we made out way south. Today was going to be a long day of traveling since we needed to make it all the way to Bobby’s Fish Camp. The only place to stay the night after leaving Demopolis. We had 7 boats filing down river – EuFLORia, No Schedule, Crews Control, Bon Foeyage, Island Time, Young at Heart and a Hatteras that we picked up along the way.
Found a small garden on our morning walk and couldn’t resist getting a few of the ripe veggies ready for picking. I could handle only so much but was able to hand out a few to Jackie and John on EuFLORia.
Foggy morning departure with a lone fisherman coming out of the fog
Bobby’s Fish Camp – known for their dockage and catfish.
We had a great time visiting with other Loopers while enjoying some of the best catfish we have eaten. Good times by all with great food, lots of laughs and stories told.
Early to bed because we have a long day again tomorrow heading down river.
