We enjoyed our stay at Bay Springs Marina. We arrived Monday afternoon and stayed until Thursday when we headed down river. When we arrived on Monday the weather was really electric with bright clashes of lightening and claps of thunder. We were so glad to be tied up to a dock for the night.  A wonderful double rainbow came out after the passing of the storm.

Tuesday we we just hung out at the boat and worked on a couple of projects. John and John installed an inverter to run our refrigerator and freezer and give me a plug so I can use while underway and then we don’t have to run the generator. We also installed a wash down faucet.  Good day for projects since it rained off and on all day. Wednesday we went into town to pick up some groceries, run a few errands and have lunch with the new boat owners we were picking up at Midway Marina. Lunch was a great find. The Neon Pig!! Yummy and really a great all around place. Food was awesome and we also got containers of the sauce they used on our lunch. It was a meat market / deli! Highly recommend if in the area of Tupelo, MS.

Today was a short ride down to Midway Marina except we had three locks to navigate.  You never know how much time you have to wait to go through the locks. Commercial traffic takes presedence over pleasure craft. You can run right in or wait upwards of 3+ hours.  Today was smooth riding. We did not have to wait for any of the locks.  When we approached the Rankin Lock we were 30 minutes out and he held the lock for us to arrive and enter.  There was one other boat in the lock that waited for us the whole time.  I am sure he was not happy to have to wait.

The locks on the Tenn-Tom are name after people. Jamie L. Whitten – Mississippi Congressman who served more than 50 years in the U.S. House of Representatives. G.V. Sonny Montgomery – Mississippi Congressman. John Rankin – Mississippi Congressman and an early supporter of the Waterway. We dropped a total of 144 feet today.

We arrived at Midway Marina about 1:30 pm on Thursday.  We took Thursday afternoon and Friday to work on a few projects.  Always something!!  The dingy wouldn’t start when John was working on the cradles that it sits on when on the swim platform.  Finally got everything working and some cleaning done and we are ready to head out in the morning. Departure time 7:00 and going through our first lock about 3 miles down river.

From all of us at the Neon Pig: We saw your blog post that included a visit to Tupelo and the Neon Pig. Thank you for the kind words, and thank you for hangin with all of us at the Neon Pig. Stop back by anytime. You’ll love what we’ve done with the place–we’ve doubled the size of the Neon Pig in Tupelo by expanding into the space next door to us. Truly appreciated–the Neon Pig
