Total Miles: 156.7
LOCKS Today- 4
Total Locks – 7
Fulton Lock, Glover Wilkins Lock, Amory Lock and Aberdeen Lock & Dam
Left early on Saturday morning and we were at the lock before 7:00 am to start the trip to Columbus. We followed Eufloria out of Midway and we were followed by Bon Foeyage, Crews Control and Reflection. 5 boats making their way down the Tenn-Tom Waterway. We started seeing more debris as we traveled down river. We also started noticing more of the Hyacinth as well.
Some of the locks on the Tenn-Tom are name after people. Glover Wilkins – Long time administrator of the Tenn-Tom Waterway. We dropped a total of 107 feet today.
Bon Foeyage and Eufloria one of the locks we navigated today.
Fall Colors and Overflowing Banks from all the rain
One of several barges and tugs and Water Hyacinth – Aqua Lilly
We noticed the fall colors were really starting to stand our along the river and you could tell that the water was really flowing from all the rain we have been getting. We past several tug boats with barges traveling up river. We keep thinking if we can just get far enough south we will be out of the path of the rain pattern. More storms kept us in the harbor for three days. Several of the storms that blew through ahead of a cold front were really severe and the lightening has been a active show for us.
Another rainbow – 4 days in a row we have seen rainbows
Columbus has been a really nice marina to stay at. As we came in the customer service was fantastic. They made sure they had someone at the slip ready to help you tie up when you arrived. When we got here we met up with more loopers that had already been here several days.
Saturday night we enjoyed a docktail party on the back of Bon Foeyage. We got to get to know a few more loopers that were at the Marina. Eufloria, Crews Control, My Bluegill Heaven, Island Time, Passage, and Young at Heart. We had a great time and enjoyed the fact there was no rain that evening.
Town is only 5 miles away and of course we had to venture into town on Sunday to pick up supplies for yet another project. The guys get restless and have to come up with something to do. Today John helped Eufloria get their cable / tv all hooked up and then onto No Schedule to get the tie downs for the dinghy and electric run for the back deck so that we will have power from the inverter there also.
Our walking view with Brandi and Bailey
Storms were expected to be really tough on Monday so we decided to stay another day protected in the Columbus Marina. We expect to head out in the morning and continue or journey south.
