Total Miles: 445.6

LOCKS Today- 1

Total Locks – 12  (Dirty Dozen)

We tried the first light this morning again and we were told that we had to wait on a tug that was heading to the lock.  So another hour wait after getting up early to head out.  We all left in order as we made our way to the lock – all seven boats one by one filed in and gave the lockmaster our boat information for a final check while leaving the last lock on the Tenn-Tom Waterway. Another long day ahead of us to get to adequate anchorage for the night.  We plan on staying about 40 miles from Mobile, AL.  Can’t wait to get to the coast and enjoy the gulf breezes.

Another day of Tugs and barges along the river running north and south.  Yesterday we had 8 and today we came upon 6 traveling and many more tied up to the banks or working tugs.  Busy river!  We have entered alligator territory and have been cautioned about going to shore with the pups for their breaks.  There is a boat ramp about three miles up river that we headed to for the evening break in our dinghy.

One of many tugs we passed.  This looked like a power plant and I thought the plum of smoke against the clear sky and sun in the back was unique.

The scenery was just beautiful.  We came across some of the cliffs which this far south is not as common as the trees and brush growing right along the waterline.  As we got closer to Mobile we noticed that we now have seagulls circling our boats looking for fish that get stirred up in our wake.  Just beautiful.

Brandi had a rough day as Co-Captain.  She had to take a nap before we got to our anchorage so that she would be ready for the dinghy ride for the evening stroll and then back to the boat for her favorite evening event.  DINNER!!
