Got up early to take the pups on a walk before casting off our lines and heading to The Wharf Marina in Orange Beach, AL. We checked out of Fairhope Marina and headed out to the bay by 8:10 am. It was a beautiful day for crossing the bay to our new home for the week. The sun was so bright glistening across the water and we could see for miles. I was on the search for the occasional dolphin but did not see any this morning. We had so many of the sea gulls following our wake picking up the small fish that would rise to the top of the water. We also saw a lot of the pelicans diving into the water for the larger catch. Mild winds helped with the calm waters and I was very thankful for that.
A beautiful sunrise, a Monarch butterfly perched on a rock and the girls with crossed lines on our walk this morning.
Shrimper working the waters for the days catch. Our view from our new home for the week.
As we were crossing we saw several shrimp boats working outside of the channel. We were following EuFLORia and Bon Foeyage was following us. We also picked up on our AIS system (Automatic Identification System) Ocean Breeze headed our way also. Once we were in our spot I decided to make apple muffins to use up a few of the ripe apples and sent some home to EuFLORia and Bon Foeyage. Cocktails were on the back of John and Jackie’s boat after walking Brandi and Bailey.
While walking with Brandi and Bailey we saw the most incredible sunsets we have seen. It only lasted a couple of minutes before colors developed from grays to vivid reds and oranges. Here is the progression as best I could capture with my phone.
